- Brazilian side Fluminense beat Saudi club Al Hilal 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup, booking a place in the last four against either Chelsea or Palmeiras.
- Matheus Martinelli gave Fluminense the lead close to halftime at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, but Al Hilal equalised early in the second half as Marcos Leonardo grabbed his fourth of the tournament.
- Fluminense’s super-sub Hercules re-established their lead on 70 minutes, and the Brazilians weathered a late storm from Al Hilal to hold on for the win.
