- A Jude Bellingham goal gave Euro 2020 runner-ups England a 1-0 win over Serbia in a tense Group C game at Arena AufSchalke, in the western German city of Gelsenkirchen.
- Bellingham ran into the penalty area to meet Bukayo Saka’s cross from the right with a thumping header in the 13th minute.
- Serbia had chances against a sometimes flat and passive England side, with Aleksandar Mitrovic firing inches wide right after a big mistake from Trent Alexander-Arnold in the first half and Dusan Vlahovic’s 82nd-minute blast tipped over the bar by Jordan Pickford.
- The narrow win in Gelsenkirchen put England at the top of Group C after Denmark and Slovenia drew 1-1 in the group’s other game on Sunday.
