- Habib Diallo gave the Teranga Lions the lead after only four minutes while Franck Kessie levelled from the spot four minutes from time for the Elephants with the match finishing 1-1 after extra time.
- Ivory Coast squeezed into the knockout phase as one of the best third-place finishers after two defeats in their group.
- Senegal had stormed their group with three wins from their three games.
- Cape Verde beat Mauritania 1-0 in the first AFCON game of the day.
