- Unchanged table-toppers India beat second-ranked South Africa by 243 runs in a statement Cricket World Cup win in Kolkata.
- India’s Virat Kohli equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 one-day international hundreds, reaching the landmark in 119 balls, including 10 fours, as India make 326-5 in 50 overs. They then bowled out South Africa for just 83 in 27.1 overs, with Ravindra Jadeja leading the bowlers with 5 for 33 in nine overs.
- Both sides had already secured their semifinal places. India have 16 points after winning eight from eight. South Africa became the second team to qualify for the semifinals on Saturday as a result of Pakistan defeating New Zealand.
- Pakistan, New Zealand, Australia and Afghanistan have eight points each, but not all of them will be able to match the 12 of South Africa in the last week of group games.
