- Nearly one million Palestinians, who remain in Gaza City, are in harm’s way as Israel is pressing on with its air and ground offensive. At least 57 Palestinians were killed on Thursday in Israeli military strikes, including children among 11 dead in az-Zawayda after their family home was destroyed.
- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas calls on the United Nations to help end the killing in Gaza. He also demanded that Hamas and other armed groups must hand over their weapons. Hamas has condemned his call to disarm.
- Spain and Italy are deploying navy vessels after activists in a flotilla seeking to break Israel’s sea blockade of Gaza said some boats were attacked by drones south of Greece.
- Israel has carried out strikes in Yemen, a day after a drone launched by Houthi rebels wounded 22 people in the southern city of Eilat in a rare breach of Israel’s sophisticated missile defence systems.
- Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 65,502 people and wounded 167,376 since October 2023. Thousands more are believed to be buried under the rubble. A total of 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the October 7, 2023, attacks and about 200 taken captive.
