- United States President Donald Trump is hosting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House for talks about the recent conflict with Iran and Israel’s war on Gaza.
- Trump has threatened to impose an additional 10-percent tariff on countries that align with the “anti-American policies” of the BRICS economic alliance, named for its initial members Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
- The Trump administration has also announced a new slate of tariffs for more than a dozen countries, including Malaysia, South Africa, Thailand, Tunisia, Japan and South Korea, ranging from 25 to 40 percent.
- On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump has defended former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, who faces trial for an attempted coup, writing: “He is not guilty of anything, except having fought for THE PEOPLE.”
