- At least four killed as the army launches offensive to regain ground in the capital Khartoum from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The army had made some gains in Omdurman earlier this year.
- Heavy bombardments and clashes reported as the army takes control of three main bridges, including two that connect the city of Omdurman with the capital, according to Al Jazeera’s Hiba Morgan.
- The push by the army comes before an address by its commander, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, to the United Nations General Assembly on Friday.
- The army had lost control of most of the capital region comprising of Khartoum, Omdurman and Khartoum North in the initial phase of the fighting that erupted on April 15, 2023, as a result of a power struggle between the army and the RSF. The war has displaced more than 10 million people and caused a humanitarian crisis.
