- For the final night of the Democratic National Convention, Vice President Kamala Harris has accepted the party’s nomination for the presidency with a fiery speech.
- Thursday evening marks the culmination of the four-day convention, which has seen speakers including former President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Harris’s running mate, Tim Walz.
- But outside the convention hall in Chicago, Illinois, protesters continue to denounce the Democrats’ support for Israel’s war in Gaza. Many were frustrated that a Palestinian American speaker was barred from taking the stage.
- Harris waded into the issue of the war directly, reiterating the US’s support for Israel but laying out a vision for Palestinian “self-determination”.
- She also attacked her Republican rival Donald Trump on issues ranging from foreign policy to abortion access.
