- Qatar’s foreign ministry says negotiations involving Hamas and Israel over a potential release of people being held are in their “final stages”.
- The comments come as Israel’s prime minister speaks of “progress” and the Hamas chief says a truce deal is “approaching”. Israel’s top government officials are meeting to decide whether to accept the deal.
- Meanwhile, Israeli bombardment of Gaza continues and the health ministry says all hospitals in the north are now out of service.
- More than 14,100 people have been killed in Gaza since October 7. In Israel, the official death toll from Hamas’s attacks stands at about 1,200.
