Lebanon mourns victims of twin suicide bombings

By Al Jazeera Published 2015-11-13 07:56 Updated 2015-11-13 08:52 Source: Al Jazeera

Lebanon has held a national day of mourning after two suicide bombers killed at least 43 people and wounded more than 200 others in a busy shopping street in southern Beirut.

Schools and universities across Lebanon shut on Friday as the country mourned the victims of the twin explosions, killed late on Thursday in one of the worst attacks in years in Lebanon.

“Soldiers of the Caliphate” were responsible for the bombings, according to a statement allegedly posted by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, which was published a few hours after Thursday’s blasts.
